Exciting new times in 3D…

The 25th of march will mark a great day in the gaming industry as Nintendo will release their much anticipated 3DS in Europe and United States. What’s truly unique about this handheld device is not that the games can be played in 3D but that you DON’T actually NEED 3D goggles for the experience! Being able to relive Zelda: Ocarina in Time alone but than in 3D is absolutely worth the price of purchase in our opinion! The question will remain if there’s going to be enough 3DS’s on the 25th of this month for all the hungry gamers out there! What we do know is that Future Zone will have enough stock-keeping-units until X-Mas! And what better place to start with the purchase of your next (truly) 3D (without glasses) Nintendo device than at this wonderful store with a great range of games, accessories and merchandising! And besides, how can you not stop and take a peek inside the store after seeing this BANNER hanging in their store window!

Facebook is slowly getting there…

For those people with a business Facebook’s “pages” is a great way to help and promote/market your company amongst the friends of your friends. And since google seems to heavily favor the word “facebook” any search query will usually have the word “facebook” pop up alongside a billion other words that may simply go unnoticed by you. Finding the word you have been looking for and seeing that it is connected to Facebook somehow may just prompt you to check out that page. For those (the adventitious surfers) who are curious enough to check out any Facebook related link should than be greeted by more that just the “info” or “wall” page in Facebook. A great impression goes a long way… So having had the chance to implement FBML into our S&D Facebook page was a real joy as it allowed us to make a unique looking “Welcome” page. What’s so great about FBML (discontinued but replaced by iFrames) is that it allows you to make a html website on your Facebook page! You can check out our page over at Facebook! A great thanks goes to Melissa Jill (photography) and Melissa Love for pointing out the FBML magic! So, yeah… Facebook is slowly getting there… being able to thinker, tweak and give your company’s page a face-lift is truly sweet!

Birthday cards that make you smile.

When we started S&D we never really thought we would be doing any birthday cards. It’s a minor detail that other designers are probably much better at. But we keep getting requests for birthday – and wedding cards and seeing the final results is certainly a satisfying one. So, yes, we will keep doing them as they come!

Zoe from Zorgwerk has a pair of very sharp senses when it comes to finding the right venues to mingle and networking. The Rotterdam Film Festival is known for its great after-parties, lavished with witty banter usually lasting until the break of dawn. As part of the Zorgwerk’s ongoing marketing strategy Zoe simply had to be the center of attention at this years IFFR. Whether Zoe saw any films is a whole different story…

New Mascot Poses!

2 new poses have been added for the Future Zone Mascot, who is becoming more popular every day! The Mascot can be found virtually anywhere in the store except as a permanent tattoo on the foreheads of the employees. They will soon be carrying the Mascot on their sleeves too. Who knows, before long the Mascot may even appears in his very own game for the iPhone!

SPOT-ME!

When the mind is pushed for new and innovative ideas, for upcoming projects, there’s a myriad of concepts born and swirling around the office that simply can’t all be given precedence to. You choose one over the other and many end up in the vault of ideas. Since S&D is a concept, design and development business we don’t limit ourselves to just concept or design for corporate purposes. Sometimes a concept can be exceptional but lacks the right perspective, expertise or team. SPOT-ME! was such a project! The concept has been around the office for at least 2 years now. But we are very proud to mention that SPOT-ME! has been picked up, dusted off and is soon to go into development. While it may still take awhile before it’s rolled out into the app-store we will certainly keep you posted on the progress of it.

While the website is still undergoing a lot of work, it simply had to go live with the official opening of Women in Sales, the page designs are coming along nicely. Any 9 – 5 job where the office is overlooking the city must certainly be quite the experience! The website should be done, along with all the bells and whistles, by the end of next week. So right now it’s back to Java and some more pen-tablet drawings… and a cup of coffee of course!

New Year’s Eve Card – Zorgwerk.

It’s certainly been a very busy 2010 for S&D and this card just shows it as we literally finished the design a day before New Year’s Eve. It’s a good thing the Zorgwerk card was only meant as a digital transmission of thoughtfulness to its clients and employees. The goal for this card was to keep it in Zorgwerk’s corporate colors, which are a hue variation of purple and blue. We went through several designs but finally settled for this version where we only used 4 main colors.

Note: it’s really unfortunate that we haven’t been able to send out any X-Mas nor HNY cards from S&D as our timing was a bit off and we had something really special in mind for all our clients. We are still at the incipient stage of a wonderful year so that card might still happen, albeit with a slightly different theme.
